It saddens me to say that I am going to miss you all.
For next year, please make sure to quiet down and pay attention when the
officers are speaking so that they can finish with the essential
business. You (the members) may not realize it, but it is the effort
from all the members (especially the officers) that makes the club succeed.
Unlike last year, Strategy Club will have an entire year next year to
plan and execute great and awesome activities. But those activities can
only be planned and executed correctly with cooperation between the
officers and members. The best way to achieve that cooperation is for
the members to simply sit down, be quiet, and pay attention when an
officer (or the host, Mr. Shaneyfelt) is speaking. It is not much to
ask, since the officers will have more time throughout the year to
address the members about the club's current events/issues at a moderate
pace and will not feel pressured, as I have, to speak at a quick pace
and spend half the time talking.
Remember it's called the Strategy Club, not the Yu-Gi-Oh club or the
Pokemon Club. Variety is important for the club to stay stable.
Worst case scenario, if everybody in the club focuses their attention on
only one specific thing, such as Yu-Gi-Oh, it will hinder the growth of
the club because new members that do want to join the club next year may
feel "left-out" because they want to do something else besides play
Yu-Gi-Oh the entire meeting. Word of the Club's un-acceptance to other
activities not Yu-Gi-Oh related would quickly spread throughout the
school, diminishing the chances of ever recruiting new members and
eliminating the chances of ever doing any exciting activities.
Luckily, unlike Comedy Club (Sorry, Comedy Club is the only club that
fits this situation), there is no single person in Strategy Club who is
so despised and hated throughout the school, that their presence would
keep potential new members from joining. But if the club does not build
up a variety of activities (besides Yu-Gi-Oh) for members to do, then
the Strategy Club will probably end up in the same situation that Comedy
Club was in last year and probably in next year.
(e.g.: inability to plan events, poor cooperation between officers and
members, few and poorly planned activities, low membership, lack of
dependable communications online and in person, etc)
The Strategy Club's low membership can be summed up in three words: lack
of advertising. Students cannot join the club if they don't know it
exists. For next year, somebody should put a announcement (simple power
point slide) on Eagle TV that tells the important information. Since I
have already made a power point slide, I will email it to everybody as
well post a link to it on the forum. The only change that I have made to
the slide is the background to hopefully make it more readable on a TV
screen in a well lit room.
And please sign up for, or at least reference, the forum for information
about Strategy Club. Most of the information (at lease a good 80%)
talked about in Strategy Club is posted on the forum. If you have a
question, comment, complaint, or concern, please post it on the forum.
Communication is important for the club to succeed.
I want the club to eventually become large and influential, similar to
APICS. But it just won't happen without the work. It's the work that
allows us (and the world as a whole) to succeed. We cannot be caught by
the same mistakes that have dissolved many other clubs into nothingness.
We must remain strong.

For those who don't know yet:
The Strategy Club is going have a pool party at Ronald's house on:
June 27, 2009
2pm-8pm
The address is:
2120 Spruce Knob Ct.
Virginia Beach, VA 23456
Mapquest link (from Landstown High School to Ronald's House):
www.mapquest.com/mq/8-0Oetk6Que91T9J4J
In case you have to contact Ronald by phone, his number is in the
attachment named:
number_ronald.png
I will also call the people who have voluntarily given me their phone
numbers.
Since I have to work on the 27th from 11am-3pm, I will probably be an
hour late. Do not panic. I will be there.
Ronald will have some food, but not enough to cater for everybody that
arrives. Please bring your own dish of food so that there will be enough
for everybody. You also might want to bring your own entertainment but
make sure to keep track of it. Nobody is responsible for your stuff but you.
If I can plan and form it in time, there will also be a "Alternate
Reality" Scavenger Hunt (similar to Perplex City, but simpler) at the
party. I haven't fully developed the background story yet as of the time
of sending this email. but the general plot of the game will be to
gather all the clues/items and solve the final puzzle in order to stop a
new experimental satellite from "firing its lazar" at the nation's
capitol. It will be a pretty simplistic game. The game requires a few
volunteers to play as "Non Player Characters" (NPC's). If anyone is
interested in volunteering, please contact me by email at
riceball@lavabit.com or by the phone number in the attachment named:
number_alex.png
If your are reading this message on the forum because there is a problem
with your email, I have made an alternate way for getting the four
attachments that comes with the email. For security reasons, I want the
numbers to be available for a limited period of time. I know of a online
collaboration and file sharing service called drop.io drop.io
that allows a user to privately share files for free. The user can set
the amount of time that the file can be shared, after that it "expires"
and is deleted. From the time that I have sent this message, the two
files will EXPIRE on:
June 27, 2009
The link to get to the phone numbers is: drop.io/numberal
The guest password is: poolparty
See you there.

Strategy Club Dues/Funds
As of Tuesday, June 9, 2009:
The Landstown High School Strategy Club has: $21.88
in funds to spend for next year and
Members of the Strategy Club owe: $12.83
in T-Shirt fees ($5.00 per T-Shirt).
Attached is a .pdf document with more details about the Dues/Funds + a
more readable power point slide that can be used to fit most occasions.
Here is the link to the website containing the files:
www.wuala.com/uselessbunker/Strategy?key=C2Sqtgef9p38
Make sure to have lots of fundraisers next year so that the club can
form a strong financial backbone.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Speaking of a strong financial backbone,
Since the Strategy Club has $21.88 to spend for next year, club custom
and policy dictates that a treasurer needs to be elected by the club's
members in order to manage the club's finances. The treasurer needs to
be a person who:
1) Has has membership in strategy club for at least one year (starting
"half" year of strategy club included).
2) Has a solid record of managing money correctly.
3) Is hardworking and is willing to go the extra mile to find good deals
on board games, card games, role-playing games, and wargames for the club.
4) Can be counted on to be present for meetings. Must be able to present
a valid reason for now being able to attend a meeting.
5) Can be counted on to take on additional responsibilities which to the
role of Treasurer.
The treasurer has the following duties:
1) Informing the President and other officers on the state of the club's
finances.
2) Keeping track of how much money the club has.
3) Assists the President and other officers in deciding future
activities/events for the club and helps determine how much of the
club's money is to be spent for each activity/event.
4) Assists the President and other officers in planning future fundraisers.
5) Assists the President and other officers in finding good deals on
board games, card games, role-playing games, and wargames for the club.
6) Takes care of any other financial issues that the club may have that
are not expressed in this list.
President (yes, you Eddy) and other officers, please make sure that the
elections are held in a fair and orderly way.
I'll drop by every once in a while to see how the club is doing. I may
occasionally donate money and games to the club.
